Correction: Tommy Jordan could not continue to play under athletic scholarship, so he has taken a "medical scholarship" instead. The way medical scholarships work is that the athlete signs an affidavit certifying that he agrees with the medical staff that he cannot continue to play football, but that he will be allowed to stay in school and graduate. This still frees up a scholarship for other recruits, but lets Jordan remain at Florida. He will not be eligible for the NFL Draft, but if he chooses to he can get an agent and try out for an NFL team as an unsigned free agent (UFA). In most cases, players simply graduate and get jobs.
