"Georgia’s bid for any emotional lift Saturday at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium didn’t end there. After a Joe Cox touchdown pass to Aron White cut UF’s lead to 14-10, the Georgia quarterback incited his teammates to begin jumping up and down on the sideline, but any sign that momentum was changing in his team’s favor evaporated on back-to-back Gator scoring drives.
Georgia’s psychological ploys didn’t work this time around. Neither did the Bulldogs having a bye week.
College football’s king would not be derailed. And you know why?
Because Urban Meyer — the coach who deserves as much credit for his masterful motivation and game preparation as his recruiting — made sure nothing would get in the way of Florida’s continued domination of its biggest rivals.
UF senior receiver David Nelson described the tumultuous atmosphere recently surrounding the team, particularly criticism directed at a struggling offense, this way: “A lot of outside forces trying to pull us down the last few weeks.”
