Urban Meyer Signs Extension

The University of Florida rewarded Gator football head coach Urban Meyer with a new six-year, $24 million contract extension, which was finalized Monday, taking his total financial package to $4 million per year and making him the SEC’s highest-paid coach in 2009. This was the right move by Florida. Meyer has delivered two national championships and elevated this program to the top in the nation. His new deal will run through the 2014 season, and there are also incentives involved that could raise his pay even higher.

That's a lot of money, but if any coach deserves it, it's our awesome Coach Meyer! He's done a great job with the team, done a great job in the community, places collegiate emphasis on academics and is a upstanding clean role model... not only to the youth/college kids, but to other professional adults in America.

I'm so glad he's our coach!

I concur! INDEED this was the right move by the UAA!!

Once Coach Meyer's ready to retire from coaching, and IF the Florida AD position should ever open up, I'd love to see him eventually become our Athletic Director!

Nah. He set the precedence at 2 NCs per extension.

One more NC - give him another extension with "stay" bonuses just as Bob Stoops has right now. (I whs Machen and Foley built that into his new extension!)
