Urban Meyer: The turkey of the year

Let me save everyone from the agony of having to read that poorly written article. The only good part is this:
Urban Meyer
Urban Liar. The Ohio State football coach kept a domestic abuser on his staff for years and then double-talked and threw his wife under the bus when confronted with evidence that he knew about it. We always had a suspicion that Meyer didn't rate high on the moral scale, but this pretty much proved it. Sadly, it also proved that Ohio State cares more about football than anything else when they merely suspended Meyer instead of firing him.

Yes, that WAS a "poorly written article", wasn't it? Amazingly so, even for these "dumbed down", "lowered expectation" days we live in...
At least this individual hit most of the key points along his meandering, unfocused and technically unsound way. (Gotta go back and check: Was this originally from an actual (supposed) journalistic news source? They at least are supposed to have EDITORS... You get these guys coming outta online sites now who were NEVER required to learn the rules of grammar and syntax, let alone "How To Write a Technical Paper 101")
As for The Urban Liar, we'd at least for the moment be done hearing much more about that collection of god-only-knows-what-they-were-promised underachievers he is currently mishandling IF ONLY MARYLAND PLAYED A MINISCULE AMOUNT OF DEFENSE!
And maybe Ohio State could then refocus on (and reconsider?) the mistake they made when they helped him wriggle out of responsibility in that whole nepotistic "protect the wife-beater" affair. By now, they have managed to let this repeatedly disgraced, living breathing embodiment of "ignore morality, win at ANY cost/me me ME!"-guy define who THEY are--in a drawn out, escalating and intensifying public display of "creepy guy has ongoing breakdown" over there on the sidelines each week now.
In a way, those who despise him (and/or the "Poison Nuts" program itself) couldn't ask for more: You think all this is ENHANCING their recruiting? OR general reputation, for that matter? There IS no "easy" OR "gracious" way out for them now...You think that selfless saint they welded themselves to will make it EASY? He threw his own WIFE under the bus--who figures he gives a flying f about the guys who hired him?
In U Liar's head, there's a LINE forming out there of MAJOR PROGRAMS who will BID to have him come there and win.
And maybe he is still right: maybe there still ARE...It WON'T be Notre Dame like he has always (NOT so)secretly dreamt would eventually be the case, nor any of the "Big Boys" he no doubt considers his due: He is finally "too hot"...But mass-memory is short: Maybe after a few years out of the spotlight someone TRULY "down and DESPERATE" might flash the cash, pay ANY price to show their fans that they are willing to go to any lengths, ANYONE, to try and do ANYTHING to get results on the field.
It might well be just one more disaster, in what more and more is becoming a STORY of a man whose trail is LITTERED with disasters--but he keeps getting new opportunitues because it is also "littered with WINS" that come BEFORE all the rest.
So the story goes on.

Urban Meyer's health is not going to last if he continues to coach at the FBS level. Maybe he can run a sports academy or become a sports consultant, but his time as a head coach is winding down. Whether he retires or his health gives out first is the question. Maybe he has another year or two with adequate medical care, but we have seen how stubborn he is with "medical rest".

I agree, of course--on each point...
But boy, you are sure putting the most neutral, almost GENEROUS "spin" on it all.
I suppose it COULD be just a quiet, walk-into-the-setting-sun type of ending for him: Gotta know that'd be in the best interests of a whole BUNCHA folks, especially those at and around the Ohio State University, so if he's willing and passively prepared for it, you have to figure he'd have plenty of help and support in that direction as far as how it plays in public.
But he could make it all go messy and dirty, too--and there is something dark in Urban, something that brings unforeseen complication wherever he goes, whatever he does, something cold and deep that compels him to think only of himself alone. So unless it IS a sudden, dire health crisis that FORCES his "retirement", well, whatever "happens next" will be neither quiet or neat--nor "convenient" for ANYONE.

It would be interesting if Zach Smith's ex-wife waited for Urban Meyer to retire, so she could sue him and Zach for a decade of emotional damage. The Ohio State would not be obligated to protect him in a civil lawsuit. That would certainly take away that "fade into the sunset" retirement.

Again: Yes--"interesting", as in that old Chinese curse!

Honestly, as much as I like to agree with Urban Meyer being the turkey of the year and yes I know I posted the article, I think what happened MSU and USA Gymnastics was worse.

Yeah--more people directly affected, for one thing...But all in all, we are comparing the relative pain and bad behavior in two undeniable, all around bummers.
Not exactly the best of human behavior, OR why we watch sports: BOTH reinforce the "Twisted World" theme...
