"Sophomore receiver Deonte Thompson is listed as a starter, but he hasn’t been getting the ball much this season. Thompson, a former five-star athlete out of Glades Central High, has just six catches for the season, and four over his last three games. His frustrations are clearly starting to boil over.
Several times in Saturday’s 29-19 victory over Mississippi State, Thompson was seen waving his hands over his head to get Tim Tebow’s attention because he was wide open. And he was – MSU’s defense focused on Aaron Hernandez and Riley Cooper, leaving Thompson and receiver David Nelson wide open on several plays. Thompson was seen making hand gestures at Tebow after one failed third-down play, as if to say, “forget this.”
Thompson had just one catch for 19 yards, and clearly wasn’t happy. Urban Meyer noticed.
“I’ll have a little chat with Deonte about that,” Meyer said. “Because we don’t need that. We need to go as hard as we can, and that’s what we do right now.”
