They are the Gator-Naughts - the six University of Florida football players from Lakeland High School, six of the biggest reasons why the Gators are favored to repeat as national champions.
"Sometimes, you are able to create a pipeline of sorts with some high schools," Gators coach Urban Meyer said during Tuesday's UF media day in Gainesville. "We do try to establish relationships and obviously you keep a close watch on the elite programs around the state.
"But six? From a program like Lakeland? That's unusual. It's great for us."
