We cannot control the players no longer associated with the university, so I would say current student-athletes should have better self control.

Yeah--I'm SICK of having to read about some kind of "responsibility" for the words and deeds of guys who've moved on, who are professionals now with NEW teams, and were recruited and developed under a whole different (now to some extent DISCREDITED) regime, to boot. I'm more worried about the actions of current players--and seeing success continue on the part of THIS Coach and staff in developing a different sort of standard, "vibe" and/or mindset.
(The OTHER thing, of course, the thing that is hitting us again as in other years, is that bad ol' "injury bug" that is currently mowing down some of the best young men on this team--MAN, there's been a lot of bad news coming down about some of the most important young men expected to make a large difference starting on both side of the ball...WE can only hope that they recover completely, and in near-record times if we are to be ready by Game 2--on the road down in South Fla. against the Thugs.)

Only the media are mandating that universities CONTROL the behavior of former players. The media are controlled by a few people with big opinions, but Americans can choose to ignore the media. One thing I have learned from sports fans out here in California is that the public tends to forgive, forget, or ignore as they see fit. Only SEC haters really seem to revel in the plight of former Florida players getting arrested. PAC-12 and Big 12 fans have problems of their own and do not seem to know anything about Florida players being arrested.
