I hope I never become as insanely accepting of mediocrity as Illinoise fans. To have their sights set so low that their joke of a coach doesn't turn their stomachs is pretty close to the realm of unpatriotic. Add to that the way freedom of speech has disappeared from the Land of Lincoln. What...
I remember back in the beginning Meyer had a plan to have the coaches and upper classmen run herd on the younger players to keep them out of trouble. What ever happened to that?
Noah major factor in Bull's 2 OT win today over Boston. He owned the boards at the Celtic's end of the court in the 2nd OT with blocks and rebounds. Series tied 2-2. Sidenote: Prior the OT win in Boston in game one last weekend, the Bull's had never beaten the Celtic's in playoffs.
The president of our local Gator club is named Steve. And it is after Spurrier. His parents are both Gators. Steve and his wife just had their first child - Tim. Their next one will be Danny.
And his mouth dulls minds.
Nope, but he did carp out complete playbooks and many, many gameplans.
... at him
When Ron Zook coaches, his players, the fans, the student body and the alumni get ZOOKED!!!
We wished he'd have tried it for 30 days. Soon, the Illinoise faithful will...
I am not at all concerned about recruiting while Meyer is here. I totally agree with you OTG that the coaching is at least, if not more important. For example, look what Spurrier did with QB recruits that were totally off the radar.
A lot of people get caught up in the number of stars and...
1. Florida
The Buzz: The potential exists for all 11 defensive starters – and each of their backups – to be back in 2009. And with QB Tim Tebow returning, the Gators will be prohibitive favorites to repeat.
2. Texas
The Buzz: QB Colt McCoy's decision to return means the offense again...
Absolutely! Geronimosooner, it was an honor to play you guys in a game that is one of the best ever. Both teams were constantly changing strategies on that field. It was a full contact chess match.
Even that's not a good enough criteria any more. 4 bowls on 1/1 or later this had two unranked teams. The GMAC bowl on 1/6 has an unranked team vs #22.
What did Bama have to gain?
Other than pride, what was the reward for them? They were the contender for the MNC until we knocked them off in the SEC Championship. This was just a consolation game for Bama.
Yeah, but...
The Bowl Challenge Cup is an ESPN creation. Originally, there was a sponsor involved but that's gone by the wayside.
On the truly negative side, if you listed to Musburger's constant butt-kissing of USC / Pete Carroll / PAC10, it was as if that damn cup meant more than the BCS...

This breaking news from Norman, Oklahoma. The University of Oklahomas' Sports Information Department has just issued a press release stating that the Sooners' football team will not be going to Miami, Florida to participate in the BCS Championship Game...
Some things just chap my hide... My Google alerrts took me to an article by an apologist for the current system. I about went nuts on the spot.
Rather than try and repeat it all here, check out my blog entry: http://gatorduckspeaks.blogspot.com/2008/12/we-need-playoff-damnit.html
