BAMA v Utes

maybe if the rumors are true about saban helping OU prepare for the gators, Meyer may have helped the Utes. at least it look that way because Bama unfortunately is having their ass handed to them.

if you would have read the article right Meyer is the one who helped not saben...I cant believe bama is getting it put on them so bad right now.

Go Gators!

wow I sounded rude I'm sorry, but it had it in the start as saben said all that then it said IF it was true and then gos on to explain how Meyer did it not saben.

not a problem, it takes a lot more to hurt my feelings. any way it looks like BAMA is done. sucks for the SEC

BUT.... perhap GREAT for bashing the BCS and moving forward to a playoff!! how can you have an undefeated Ute team who convincingly beats bama who is the SEC #2 #4 in the nation finish behind USC, UT, and either UF or OU who all lost 1 game?

well i would have rather seen bama win but i like finding good in any situation.

I think Andre Smith should just declared for the NFL Draft because He's one of the reasons why Bama lost (Bama's D was bad). If he didn't go bonehead, Bama wouldn't allow eight sacks. If he does come back, Saban will ride his @$$ harder than a donkey in the farm not to mention his teammates.

i agree, i am sure the O line players especially are not too pleased with Smith now.

I don't think Andre Smith could have saved this Bama team. I was hoping for Bama to win, not only for SEC pride and to make Florida look better--I just like Bama more than I like most of Florida's SEC opponents.

Kyle Whittingham's mentor was Urban Meyer, so that's one-up for him.

Both Bama and Utah made mistakes during the game, but (1) the Utes established themselves right off the bat with three TD's on three offensive drives, (2) were able to shut down Bama's offense anf got to JPW several times, and then (3) started using the spread formation on offense to generate some playmaking. Good strategy on Utah's part to also use the no-huddle offense in the 1st half.

Bad for the SEC, but in a way a good one for Meyer.

Same here.

I could understand if Alabama lost 10-7 or something, but Utah's defense came to play, and played for all 4 quarters. I was expecting them to be worn down in the 4th quarter but they held their own.

How much of an effect do you think Meyer's alleged advice giving to Whittingham had in helping Utah win?

What could the advice be..... "stop the run"? It still gets down to execution, maybe the Tide was still reeling from the spanking we gave them.... smash mouth rhetoric just don't work against smash mouth with a dab of spread and speed. ;-}

i would bet that they used our victory as a model for their win over bama. after all their game plan is similar to the gators thanks to Meyer's time coaching their. if you look how we got ahead of bama and forced them to play quickly with their passing game to conserve clock. that's what happened once utah got ahead. bama did not run as much. unfortunately for bama JPW is not a stellar QB. take that with a once great O line missing their best player, having injuries and substitutions to various positions makes for a castrated bama offense.
the bama D looked half asleep with so many missed tackles.

the only aspect of bama that shined in that game was the special teams because of one great player.

What did Bama have to gain?

Other than pride, what was the reward for them? They were the contender for the MNC until we knocked them off in the SEC Championship. This was just a consolation game for Bama.

I'm sure Bama would have allow sacks but not eight with an All-American LT in the game.

True, however every losing team has an excuse...the ball not bouncing your way is a part of the game. As to whether it would have allowed you to win is pure speculation.

I think what Leakfan is trying to say is, Bama just didn't want to be there. They wanted to be in Miami. They didn't care if they won or lost this game. What was in it for them? nothing.

I can see that logic (somewhat). I'm not sure, but I think the school gets paid the same win or lose. If it's not the conference or national championship, what's the incentive to win? It's a great break from school for the players, and a pay day for the coaches--win or lose.
