I apologize to one and all--guess I just ASSUMED that Escambia or SOMEONE would put one up...
Me, I had the dreaded "prior commitment" that delayed me unexpectedly all aft...and meanwhile, we're helping UMASS keep it close--and they don't appear to NEED any help, not against us right now.
OK, I know its early in the year (duh) and we're missing some pieces on an offense that couldn't yet afford it...but still.
WE SHOULD BE WEARING THIS OPPONENT DOWN, at least...
Scary part is its also our D making dumb mistakes and showing a lack of team-cohesion. Sigh, could be a loooonnnng season, if this is any indicator. Wanna see our offense do some things now. Another missed med-long pass...and who KNOWS what our running game might be capable of...hasn't been given much oppty for taking charge of this one--and has, if anything, discouraged any thought of "taking over" the 2nd half, either.
Think we'll still win, maybe even "going away", ultimately--but after a spring and better-part-of a summer redrawing its look and supposed "philosophy", O STILL doesn't even rate a "work in progress" at this point--more like a "put it out of its misery and start OVER", so far...but a coupla long TDs could still change that overall impression--especially over on our sidelines, where it would likely make the biggest and most important difference in the coming weeks. But so far anyway, the very few big plays by EITHER squad have seemed to come exclusively from the UMASS offense. And THAT is a bad sign.

...well, we HAVE shown that we do have a reliable place-kicker, anyway--not that this was the game we wanted (or thought we NEEDED) young Mr Pinero to assuage our concerns at that position. It well could make a diff later, tho, so maybe this IS a noteable demonstration, a leg-up on offense after all. But DAMN! A nice 49yarder to close out scoring in the 4th quarter of a laugher would have done the same...

Powell is still our best weapon WHEREVER he lines up, whatever position he plays.

...and as I thought could end up happening, after inspired planning and execution by the UMASS "braintrust" kept it close for 3 qrtrs, we are pulling away now--having gotten to that apparent 2-TD lead in tough and circuitous fashion, lets face it. Better be tighter against UK--amd we lag early and CONTINUE to make stupid mistakes on defense against TENNESSEE and we could get blown OUT--which should not, BETTER not happen woth an old rival we've had down for a while now, even thru the "bad years" we'd like to leave behind (but were only a little over a season back, really--and revisited last few games of 2015-16, you'll all (painfully) recall...

The O line still looks weak.
SUPPOSED to be "much improved" including in much-needed depth, according to most pundits who follow the details of such things...but doesn't look much better so far...

That stuff has already been wiped from my limited memory bank. So, I have no idea what you're talking about.

Lol
Really gotta master that approach, Lf.
Might be espec handy this season, as in:
"A win is a win is a win." And 24-7 looks at least "adequate" outside Gator Nation, where we're still an afterthought at best--a good place to be for now with such a young team. I hope we get ZERO credit or movement up in the standings.

I'm afraid they may be able to outscore us
We have worried about them breaking their "streak of futility" for several yrs now--and one day it WILL happen.
But if we stay hungry and poised, I don't think it'll be this year in Gainesville.
We didn't exactly "destroy" a UMASS team we clearly outclassed. But we get some good ones back on offense this week, and ya gotta think OUR "braintrust" held more than "a little" back in the last one. Kentucky is for real, espec on offense. Our D is still pretty strong and even in "vanilla mode" we are starting to show a few things on offense ourselves--but we're not ready to get into a shooting match with anyone yet, imho.
All that said, I think we pull out about a 10+ pt mid-range win, like maybe in the 35-24 range?
'Course, I' m often WAY off when I try n pick scores in these kinda games, so...
