There’s been a lot of debate about how Tim Tebow will fare in the NFL. Many feel that the Gators quarterback, who has announced that he will return to Florida next season, will have to play another position in the pros because he operates a gimmick offense and doesn’t possess the necessary skills to be a NFL quarterback.
“The people that say that he’s not going to be a good quarterback, aren’t they the same people that said Ryan Leaf will be a great quarterback?” Brown said. “Or that Tom Brady does not belong in the first, second or third round? Or that Akili Smith will be a great quarterback? It’s the same people.
“They have no idea. You don’t know what that player possesses inside and how much work ethic he has to adapt to the game. The Combine ruins a lot of very good football players. Because you can't run a 4.4 or a 4.5 as a defensive end doesn’t mean you can’t play. Because you can run a 4.5 as a defensive end doesn’t mean you can play.
“If Tim Tebow is given a legitimate chance to be a quarterback, his windup and all that can be changed. You can speed that up. The kid wins. You can teach him anything you want. He brings that energy and that winning attitude.”
