Article on Moody

I just read another article that said Moody was having trouble learning Florida's spread offense. It was on Yahoo! but I can't find it anymore despite reading it today.

I hope whoever wrote that article was wrong.

Keep in mind people wrote that Fun N Gun Offense wouldn't work in the SEC and that spread offense wouldn't work in the SEC.

The article wasn't saying he can't learn or that a pro-style running back can't work in a spread offense. It just said he hadn't picking up and mastered the spread offense.

Just as it took Chris Leak some time to reach a comfort level with the spread offense (albeit a "hybrid" version that was adapted to his particular skillset) at QB, it will take time for Emmanuel Moody to do the same at setback. After spring practice wraps up, the best ting he can do is study the playbook and game film - "watch and learn" - and go from there in the fall. Once he can work with the spread he'll be fine.

I think he'll be fine, too. I was just hoping the coaches would be saying he's learning quickly and Tebow should never have to run the ball again or something.

It's still early...

He got over 100 yards rushing and a TD in the spring game (also sadly fumble as well).

Moody kind of shot himself in the foot with that fumble, but he showed that he has the ability to work with the offense, and once he reaches a comfort level he'll be productive.

Hopefully he'll improve during two-a-days and see considerable playing time - that is, if he can avoid fumbling.

A good idea may be to pair him with Kestahn Moore in the backfield as Moore is a tough blocker (he works very well with Brandon James on kickoff/punt returns in opening up the rushing lanes).

I went through the autograph lines before the game; Moody was sitting next to K-Mo in the same row of seats. I was impressed by how personable he was, and one thing he and Tim Tebow have in common is a deep Christian faith.
