Better Chance: '08 or '09

What year do you think the Gators will have a better chance at winning a National Championship? 2008 or 2009? The Gators are still a very young team. 2008 should be there year, but if we can't get it done and Tebow returns... there's no reason to think we won't have just as good of a chance in 2009.

I'd say this year. Even though Tebow will most likely stay, I'm not so sure Harvin will stick around.

Even without Harvin we shouldn't miss much of a beat. Our defense should be great on '09. I still say 2008 though. It's really a tossup to be honest. The main reason I say '08 is because our schedule sets up very well for us this season.

2009, as our defense would significantly improve and our offense would only degrade slightly.

That's just my opinion, and doesn't mean we can't win it all in 2008.

A few experts think '09 as well due to the better defense. It's a great point. It's just that in any given National Title season, things have to fall right no matter what. I think that year is this year, due to the schedule and our defense will be better than most of YOU(s) think.

Of course, anything can happen. Honestly, I kind of want UGA to crush Ohio State or USC in the national title game then have Florida play in the Sugar Bowl or something and badly beat whoever they play.

I think having 3 different BCS champions from the SEC in 3 years would help strengthen our conference's standing, but then again, most of the media already thinks the SEC is the best conference. :punk:

Interesting on what Tebow said @ the ESPYs.
Now, I for one really think he will honor his 4 yrs @ UF & stay BUT....when asked by Erin Andrews about going pro he said "I want to focus on this year & win the SEC, then will worry about that" Thats a lose quote as I cant remember it word for word but one thing he DID NOT SAY was No I am staying for 4 years @ Florida.

I think that the Gators have an excellent chance this year to go all the way. When the team is scoring 49 pts per game the defense can allow a couple of TD's and the games will not even be close. Plus, the defense will get better as the year moves forward. (barring no major injuries)

I also think that 09 looks like a winner as we will have a lot of young players that will be hitting their stride both on offense and defense making the Gators a complete team both ways.

Back to Back baby!

PS - Tebow is not going anywhere, he will stay his Senior year as he is a stand up guy and like someone else mentioned, both Tim and his parents will want him to graduate and of course he loves being a Gator!

Just by looking at the names of schools you would think that we have the toughest schedule (The Citadel is the only truly weak school). But i guess since a lot of these teams are rebuilding we should have the upperhand... lets just hope the BCS committee see's the big names and not the weak teams

but to answer the original question... both.... back to back national championships! easier road in 08, stronger D in 09
