I didn't even know this...
GAINESVILLE - Johnny Brantley was one of the nation's elite quarterback recruits a year ago out of Trinity Catholic in Ocala. He failed to win the backup job behind Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow last fall and redshirted.
But this spring was supposed to be Brantley's chance to compete for playing time. That competition may be placed on hold, after he suffered a shoulder injury during recent offseason conditioning.
Brantley, the 2006 National Gatorade Player of the Year in prep football, was injured during mat drills. The damage, however, was to his left (non-throwing) shoulder.
He is currently unable to work out, and could be sidelined another 3 to 5 weeks.
