How did Petrino get a Gator fired?
Random fact: Bobby Petrino was Jeremy Foley's second choice for head coach in 2004, right after Urban Meyer.
Note that as much as a lot of us dislike Meyer, Petrino is similar in many ways. He is a known jerk, is shady with high school recruits, plays favorites with star athletes, and changes jobs frequently. Petrino is worse than Meyer in my opinion, because Petrino cheated on his wife and kids with a former student that is young enough to be his daughter. Not only did this girl gain a job ahead of other good candidates, but also a $20k cash bonus from Petrino. The worst thing Meyer did was nowhere near as bad as the worst things Petrino did.

I was not aware of that, Escambia.
A year or so ago in a press conference he notice a reporter wearing a Gator hat. I think he asked her to take it off, she refuse, and shortly after that she got fired. Also E-94, you forgot that Petrino quit in the middle of the season while he was a Falcons coach. Granted so did Meyer though he changed his mind in the 2009 and he did finished the seasons (2009 and 2010).
I was aware that he quit in the middle of the Falcons season, but that makes him a quitter, not a lying, conniving, jerk. He still is a lying, conniving jerk, but you can add quitter to his long list of character flaws, like his brother Urban.
I remember the Renee Gork story. Actually, neither Petrino nor anyone else from Arkansas fired her. She was asked not to cover the team that next week.
On the bright side, WRUF hired her right after that. She now reports for UF.
You're going to believe that BS from Petrino of all people (and the UA). I believe that UA threaten to cut off access to that station unless that station fired her. Also still a weak-ass excuse to fired a person especially in states where there's more of one major program though happy she found a job after that.
If we turned the tables and had an FSU or UGA grad working for WRUF wearing a hat to a press conference, you can bet that the radio station manager would do whatever the coach says. Coaches make lots of money and have lots of power. Radio station managers have very little money and no power. These reporters are expendable.
There is a life lesson in this. Renee graduated from UF and could not land a job in Gainesville, so she took the first job that would hire her. If you are in a situation like that, you need to play it smart, toe the line, and do everything you can to keep that job--you are expendable, probably a little desperate, and are far from home.
There is a lot of money in college football. At a press conference, everyone had better be supporting the team and making the team look good. Especially if you are a team that is trying to get out from the shadow of the historically successful teams like Florida.

I am wondering the same.
She is not "all that". She is a typical, tall, athletic blonde with a hook nose and big teeth. Teeth are pretty rare in Arkansas. In the motorcycle accident, she lost all but three of her teeth...which is more teeth than half the state of Arkansas.
(laughing) Of all the POSSIBLE different wicked ways there are to run with this story,you managed to find one that, even as set-up-to-be-hit-out-of-the-park as that one is, I hadn't thought of it--until you stepped up and SMASHED it off the tee, E-. Well done.
If we're weighing "relative scum-baggery", I'd have to say that while in many ways Meyer and Petrino indeed are brothers-in-two-faced-sleazery, and where on THAT point alone Meyer I think tops Petrino and most others in outright fork-tongued hypocrisy (the latest Sporting News story only underlining, highlighting and further documenting not just Meyer's virtuoso performance in this dubious arena, but how widespread a reality it really is across-the-board at major college programs), I have to go along with E- here in judging this one extra layer of arrogant, self- and family-destructive behavior on Petrino's part as reprehensible and irresponsible on a whole other level. Meyer may have used his health and "oh, my family" as a kind of "line", an excuse/cover to just up and do whatever he WANTED to do, with the hope and intention of somehow retaining his carefully built image in the process, but THAT kind of lie isn't NEARLY as hurtful and humiliating to those folks closest to him, the ones who trusted, loved and cared about him, as Petrino's behavior has done.
(On a purely selfish, Gator-centric level: Hey, talent or no, those are "his guys" over there at Arkanas...they may have just fallen "back to the pack" in the SEC-West.)
I have mixed feelings on Arkansas. The fans are good people, so I would not knock their team in public.

Daa-yam...Now THAT'S a whole different deal...but how did sqishy little pudge-boy Bobby P. land HER? I mean, yeah, any man can look like a big white knight if he's standing on a large enough wallet, but there are a LOT of "Men With Fat Wallets" out there in the Big Wide World, and you pretty well have your pick when you look like that. You gotta wonder at HER standards...Maybe she hadn't gotten out & around much, poor young thing.
