Chris Leak expected to join Alouettes camp

or Jesse Palmer, Doug Johnson, Shane Matthews, Rex Grossman, Steve Spurrier, Kerwin Bell......

I still haven't given up on Rex Grossman up in Chicago yet. If the Bears can revamp their O-line with the draft picks they brought in and get receivers who can catch and hold onto the ball (unlike Muhsin Muhammad) he could improve and pad his stats - BUT, on the same token Rex needs coaching up and fine-tuning of his fundamentals. He has what it takes to succeed in the NFL and has made some good plays, but he can also be his own worst enemy and winds up shooting himself in the foot with his screw-ups - thus the "Good Rex / Bad Rex" swings.

If Chris Leak doesn't make it up in Canada, Arena Football's another alternative for him until the AAFL can get going.

Spurrier in 1972 and Grossman in 2006 had each a good season. It upsets me when people called Spurrier a bust as a player (if anything I said one year wonder).

Look at Spurrier's stats in the 1972 season.

As much as the Chicago sports media likes to lambaste Rex, stats show he's had a more successful 1st-complete season than the likes of John Elway and others in the past. Granted he has a lot more room to improve, but build a better offense around him and that will only work to his benefit. Many of them, as well as the pundits, say that the 2006 Bears team made it to the Super Bowl in spite of Rex, but had he not played a role in the success of that team they wouldn't have made it that far.

Rex's complete 2006 stats can be found here:

Whoa there!! I really like Rex. But putting him in the same sentence as John Elway?:confused0054:

I hope chris leak gets the chance, if one team gives him the chance, despite his height, I seriously think he can do it. I hope he goes to Arena Football because I'll actually be able to watch him . . .if he does ever play :(

Unfortunately his height is going to keep a lot of teams away. I've seen Leak throw some of the prettiest passes ever. He's also thrown some bad ones. He can fix that.

The one thing he can't fix is his height

The reason why I made the comparison is that it took Elway some time to be successful in the NFL. If Rex sticks to his guns and makes an effort to improve he too can get to the top, and I really hope he perseveres.
