Fake punt all the talk after Florida Gators’ win at Tennessee

"Recapping the weekend, Omarius Hines’ 36-yard run on a fake punt became the talk of the game. It was a gutsy call by Florida coach Urban Meyer, who is 8-for-8 on fake punts.

“When the momentum shifts, you have to get it back somehow,” Meyer said. “And when you have experienced offensive players, you don’t have to do that kind of stuff. Inexperienced players, you have to somehow create a play.”

According to all the statistical studies, coaches should almost always go for it on fourth down and they should always go for the two point conversion. There's only a couple situations where you shouldn't. It works even when you factor in field position strategies. But this is something that might never happen because it's considered rude. As the game evolves, I wonder how long it will be until that consideration is thrown out and a coach actually tries it on a big stage.
