Georgia athletics director Damon Evans said the Bulldogs are hoping to get the 3:30 p.m. CBS game — and not at night — when they Florida in Jacksonville on Oct. 27
Both Evans and Florida athletics director Jeremy Foley have expressed concerns about playing night games in their annual neutral site game, once nicknamed the "World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party" for the amount of alcohol consumption that takes place. For years the two schools refused to play at night but relented in 2002 because of pressure from the networks and the SEC.
But the schools moved to curtail the party atmosphere — and the use of the aforementioned nickname — after Florida students were killed in consecutive years (2004-05) in incidents in which alcohol may have been a contributing factor.
"We would prefer to play at 3:30 in the afternoon," Evans said in the press box at halftime of the Georgia-Vanderbilt game.
With both teams having multiple losses, there's a chance CBS could take a pass on Georgia-Florida and choose Tennessee-South Carolina for that spot. ESPN has second choice at 7:45 p.m. followed by Lincoln-Financial at 12:30 p.m. The networks have to make their selections on Monday.
