Florida Post-Game Quotes

Opening Statement:

“I made a comment earlier about how I admired this team. The admiration is starting to get real
strong. You have to be careful because you can get a team soft that way. All a coach really wants
his for his team to be really professional. Talent will get you about seven wins. Discipline will get
you maybe eight. When you start getting the leadership is when good things happen. We have to
be ready for Nashville (Vanderbilt) next week. We want a trip to Atlanta. I thought Charlie Strong
called a great game and obviously the credit goes to the players for executing that game plan.
With great defense you’re going to win a bunch of football games.”
“Maturity (is the difference between last year and this year) and the fact that there’s competition
for spots. We have two defensive ends, Justin Trattou and Carlos Dunlap, who both can play.
Last year, we had Derrick Harvey and that’s it. We have some inside guys that are fighting for
their lives to get on the field. You have a guy like Dustin Doe, who played to get back into the
starting lineup. (Ryan) Stamper won’t give it to him that easy. You’ve got three safeties now.
Someone better not sprain an ankle or they might not get back in there. It’s sort of like what’s
going on at tailback. There’s competition and that’s the difference. Maturity and competition is the
difference.”

On junior quarterback Tim Tebow:

“He’s relaxed, he’s playing and he’s having a lot of fun. Tim Tebow loves the game of football
and loves the University of Florida. He’s contagious. When he plays well the whole offense plays
well.”

On junior linebacker Brandon Spikes:

“I think so. He didn’t play very well a year ago. Now Brandon Spikes is starting to play like the
Brandon Spikes I hear about. Our players love him.”

What today’s victory over Georgia means:

“It means we’re first place in the SEC East right now. It’s a rivalry game. We’ve done very well
against our rivals. I can’t go on about how big this was. Was this motivation for the summer?
Yeah, it was. It was the only rivalry game we lost a year ago, and losing doesn’t sit well with our
players.”
Florida Players

Junior Quarterback Tim Tebow

On the game:

“It was a great win for us. We knew we needed this one and we were focused all week. The
defense made plays and the offense finished drives.”

On his two touchdown passes:

“The first pass to Louis Murphy was big because it put us ahead by a good margin. The second
pass to Percy Harvin basically sealed the game for us.”

Junior Linebacker Dustin Doe

On the defensive performance:

“Our focus in practice this week was on executing our assignments. It didn’t matter what the play
call was as long as we executed it properly. I think that we did that.”

On returning from his injury:

“I felt like I got my legs back under me. While I was out, the defense developed a lot at every
position. It feels great to be back out on the field, especially when we’re playing this well.”

Junior Linebacker Brandon Spikes

On holding Georgia without a touchdown until the fourth quarter:

“We came out with a great amount of focus and energy. We really wanted to get this game. We
needed to win this game. We played great up front and all around on defense and held them out
of the end zone.”

On the improved defensive play this year:

“We wanted to stop Knowshon Moreno from running downhill all game like he did last year. We
tried to hit hard early in the game to make a statement. The guys up front did a great job. Guys
like Terron Sanders and Lawrence Marsh are really growing up and did a great job holding their
gaps. Last year, we didn’t make the big play when we had the chance, but this year we did.”

All of these guys have great answers but myself love the answer tim tebow gave about the time outs. He is right all we was doing was playing the game as we should...lol great game boys!
