Football gets 10th recruit for 2010

After signing just 16 prospects in to its 2009 recruiting class, Florida reached double digits for the 2010 class when Cape Coral athlete Jaylen Watkins verbally committed to the Gators Friday.

Watkins, who stands at 6-foot-1, 172 pounds and is the No. 27 prospect by Rivals.com, spent time all over the field in high school, but expects to be used primarily as a defensive back in college. He accounted for 71 tackles and three interceptions as a junior. He also threw for 419 yards and five touchdowns, while running for 329 yards and five touchdowns last year.
