FSU on 2 year Probation

Florida State's sports teams will be on self-imposed probation for two years and some will lose scholarships because of an academic cheating scandal, the university said in a report released Thursday.

As far as I'm concerned the School Out West had it coming. They've gotten off easy for too long (especially the "free shoes" episode, Deion Sanders not going to class for all that time, Adrian McPherson's gambling and the Dillards caper), and they needed something to be the final straw breaking the camel's back - that came in the cheating scandal.

They may be on a self-imposed "probation" for two years, but they deserve a lot worse. I'm anxious to see if the NCAA decides to slap sanctions on them.

I agree, the NCAA should give them more punishment.

I hope NCAA bring the hammer down on them. I'm upset they've gotten away with violations especially during their championship seasons and Florida got busted and lost three SEC conference titles and a possible a national championship in 1984. Who did Bowden make a deal with for that to happened?

It's hard to say, but one thing for sure: Bowden doesn't have Dave Hart up there in Tally anymore as a "smokescreen". If the recent cheating scandal surfaced in September but the repercussions didn't hit until their bowl game, that tells me there could have been a cover-up and something isn't kosher. I also question his timing in naming Jimbo Fisher his successor when he did.

Just think, Hart was the one who said Steve Spurrier deserved to be "spanked"......

I know who should be spanked, slapped, and kneed in the groin. The NCAA officials if FSU only gets slapped in the wrist.

That might be just what happens if TK Wetherell (FSU prez) begs the NCAA for mercy. Football's his main focus, and taking anything away from them would be like taking a toy away from a baby as far as he's concerned.

And if all FSU gets is a slap on the wrist, there's still some shady dealing going on.

If FSU sniffs a conference championship game or a bowl game in the next two + years, there is something extremely wrong with the NCAA.
