...Screw it: This is where I came IN. It's ALL about what happens out on the recruiting trail now--and of course if you're looking for "luck", how about findimg us a "disgraced and forgotten former-5-star QB" out there, guys? Maybe at one of those "interim colleges", someone who wants, needs, has WORKED HARD for a second or third chance....kid with mad skills who's made mistakes and learned hard lessons

...OK, maybe I'M the one who's dreaming now, the one with ridiculous, unrealistic hopes. After all, it's only everyone else who gets guys like that eventually--from US!

Is there really NO ONE on the QB position other than Treon Harris and Will Grier? Other teams opt to play even a true freshman and we must have someone else available. Why not Josh Grady? Why does McElwain keep putting Treon in?

Another 3 and out
Treon ran into that sack. Unbelievable how much he sucks
james, we've been watching this scene over and over for WEEKS now.
There's just one way to change it: CHANGE THE GUY UNDER CENTER (or back a few yards or whatever, you get the idea)!

No other options in his mind. But I'd put that other guy in just because Treon is sucking so bad.

You know, he's supposed to be completely unready and inadequate, a receiver now--but really: Just based on what we've seen last few weeks from a Treon-led offense, WHATTA YA GOT TO LOSE, COACH???!!!

@jamestoney84,
...As for the larger q you raise, why no one else, well, the guys to ask that, Muschamp and his offensive staff, they're all gone (least the ones who MADE this mess)...

The past few weeks have really made me question McElwain's judgement. He'd better recruit his ass off and fill all the missing holes because I do not want to see this shit again next season with more excuses.

Oh, and btw: Unless we DO get some hidden, forgotten upperclassman outta some "rehab program", gotta figure we're GONNA be starting a freshman at QB next season. Either that or it's "The Return Of Treon Harris"--a true horror story..."He's back, and darkness descends!"

I have never been as sad, frustrated and resigned, all at the same time, for being so right and accurate in what I knew was coming these last weeks of the '15 season. Of course, I was hardly "alone" in those fears. I guess we all knew, deep down what was "likely". This is why I more and more began focusing on what we could, HAD TO do about focusing onto NEXT season--ASAP.

I turned the TV off a few possessions back

Treon Harris has largely given up a long time ago and I'm not sure why he is even still in the game. I really question McElwain's judgement.

I understand we have personal issues on offense but these offensive coaches bare some of the responsibility. Ive seen other schools go down to their 3 string QBs and have more offensive out put then we do. Its pitiful to watch.... Other than our record this team aint much different then a Muschamp team. I like coach Mac but remember we had a great defense, very poor offense, committed stupid penalties over and over again and very poor QB play under Muschamp.

Heres my point fellas, while I see very positive things happening with coach Mac, I am not ready to call him the savor of Florida football. We are no where as good as our record shows. This team is about as good as any of the Muschamp groups which would make sense as most of these players are Muschamp recruited players. We have shown zero improvement on the offensive side of the ball. The proof is in the game play. Our offense takes steps backwards week to week yet our coach continues to give post game interviews saying well get better. No coach we will not nor have we gotten better. I would appreciate a little honesty from coach for once. Call it what it is. This QB is not capable of running this offense nor do I believe he can run a pee wee football offense.

Coach Mac should be pissed with not only the offensive players but the coaches as well. I hope and pray he gets a good QB in this class. We will be losing a ton on defense so we are gonna need a lot better offensive out put next year or I guarantee we will get beet by Vandy, Tennessee and have a losing record. Coach Mac got lucky on a very poor SEC East division so next year we will see what kind of coach he is.

As you guys may have noticed, I was way too drunk to post anything during the game. My thoughts:
  • Quarterbacks: Muschamp destroyed a generation of quarterbacks at Florida. We are in this predicament because Muschamp hired Weis who brought in Brissett to compete with Driskel, but Pease whiffed on recruiting Paxton Lynch (the top QB candidate in the 2016 NFL Draft) and gave us Mornhinweg instead. Roper gave us Harris. Yay. Fast forward to today, and Muschamp let Driskel, Brissett, and Mornhinweg get away, leaving us with Grier (out best hope, pre-steroids) and Treon Harris. Grier was recruited by none other than DJ Durkin--a defensive and special teams specialist! We have gone almost a decade since we last developed a 5-star QB, the Chosen One, Timothy Richard Tebow. All our other QBs have fizzled under bad coaching and mentorship since 2008, including Cam Newton, John Brantley, and Jordan Reed.
  • Offensive Line: Muschamp destroyed all depth on offensive line, which in turn made it next to impossible for any QB to get time to maybe read a defense, or create holes for any running backs.
  • Wide Receiver: Muschamp lucked into one receiver of note, Demarcus Robinson, who was recruited by Joker Phillips. The joke was on us, because DRob spent half of his career injured or suspended, and spent his last game as a Gator protecting his NFL stock or running his mouth at the Bama defense. Callaway and Worton seem to be the way of the future with our receivers, and none of them were recruited under the old regime.
  • Kicker/Punter: Nobody has actively recruited a kicker since Greg Mattison recruited Caleb Sturgis in 2007 and Chuck Heater recruited Chas Henry in 2007. Think about that for a moment. We have had nothing but walk-ons and head cases at kicker and punter for going on nine years! EDIT: DJ Durkin also recruited punter Kyle Christy in 2010. We have gone nine years without a rated kicker and five years without a rated punter.
So, yeah, the game sucked, but at least we scored 15 points and covered the spread. It looks like Florida will be playing against Michigan in the Citrus Bowl on January 1st or Orlando.

We may be sinking at this point in the year, but the program is, IMHO, headed in the right direction. In 2 years we should be excellent.
Oh, I agree--in TWO YEARS...but personally, I'd like to think that with vision, foresight and yes, a bit of luck, we could jumpstart that process somewhat earlier. Like maybe NEXT season? Don't know about y'all, but I suppoze I'm one of those unreasonable fans who'd like to see at least the solid promise of results without having to resign ourselves to throwing away a whole season between here and there--"there" being at the very least the return to relevance and power that the first half or so of THIS season unexpectedly began to promise.
Anyone here gonna tell me that didn't feel GOOD??? Felt like "comin' HOME". Like our birthright. Or at the very least "the natural order of things". Right?
I want more. Doesn't have to be "everything, right now"...But more than a return to the slow slide we've once again embodied of late--mainly in the form of ZERO OFFENSE. ANOTHER whole season of that? No. This staff gave us a fresh glimpse of The Prize, a strong taste of how-things-used-to-be.
Sorry, but "Never mind, disregard...Gonna have to go back and start all over..." just ain't gonna cut it now.

The way he handled this undermanned and underachieving roster first more-than-half the season, I thought we had the right guy for SURE...But the seeming inflexibility with which he and his staff FAILED to adapt in the face of a floundering, less-than-mediocre Treon Harris has put he AND they back into the "Show me what you got", reserve-judgement category. I'm with you: It'll all come down with what they can manage between now and next season, especially by spring practice. They'll have to dare more there, with respect to personel (especially at QB, obviously--where they need to start STOCKPILING, pronto) than they have on offense with Grier gone and Treon an obvious flailing bust. And that's just to regain what was just the START of "beginning to believe": As I said, now we're back to, " Let's see what you got...".

Gonna tell it like it is, unemotionally now...
I can honestly say this with calm certainty: What we have seen "developing" the last few weeks, DEVOLVING, really, THAT IS SOME OF THE WORST OFFENSE I HAVE EVER SEEN IN A GATOR TEAM. Incompetence AND impotency. I am disgusted and ashamed.
Our Coach, an "offense innovaror" should be angry and embarassed--at its happenning WITH HIM IN CHARGE. But he did NOTHING to change or really avoid it as it settled in and gathered a kind of careening, floundering "momentum of failure" inertia of its own last few games. That's what REALLY worries me, and introduces at least the possibility he may not be "the right guy" after all.
All rides on what he actually DOES, starting NOW.
