Annual Gator Gallop Set to Kick-Off 2008 Homecoming Festivities
Gainesville, FL - Wednesday October 22, 2008
Gator Gallop, a two-mile fun run, is set to kick off 2008 Homecoming festivities this Friday morning, October 24th. Each year, hundreds of students, faculty, and families participate in the annual event, which immediately precedes the Homecoming Parade. Gator Gallop invites Gator fans of all ages to walk, roll, run, or bring their pets as they follow part of the Parade route down University Avenue. The annual event is sponsored by SunTrust, Florida Blue Key, and the University Athletic Association.
The race will start at 11:30 a.m. for walkers and runners, and 11:15 a.m. for all others. Proceeds from the event will go to the University Athletic Association Track & Field program and Florida Blue Key, with awards being given to both the overall male and female winners of the Gator Gallop.
Registration Information
Pre-Registration: Participants may pre-register at the Southwest Recreation Center, the Reitz Union Colonnade, and the Florida Blue Key office. Online registration is also available. Pre-registration is $10.
Day-of-Race Registration: Participants may also register on Friday morning at Percy Beard Track from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Day-of-race registration is $15 and CASH ONLY will be accepted.
