Gator Game Day: 10/04/14 At Vols

Hope you step back and look at the "Big Picture" now and then, E-, 'cause here, in this game, the problems are being stripped bare for all to see. Yes, there's "blame" to go around. But the point has to do with what it all adds up to, what it means here today--and seemingly, more and more, EVERY Game Day. On this team, each weeks "different players step-DOWN", as opposed to "stepping-UP" to raise our game.
Coaching, coaching, coaching.

Disagree. Robinson needs to catch the effing ball. He is our playmaker. Driskel has caught so much flak from the fans, but no respect from the fans when he makes a good play. What coach do you insert today or tomorrow to fix that?

Maybe Bud Kilmer or anyone at this point!

Will we be able to beat Vandy? This could be a 3-4 win season. It's just tough to have to suffer through this kind of ineptness.

Not that it really matters by now (I mean, if our best hope is that their best defensive player is thrown out of the game, who-the-f*ck are we now ANYWAY?), but how does our QB getting knocked out, a flag, and a replay review of an onfield targeting-call lead to our having to punt? Just wondering...

Again, true--HERE...But what about the larger situation? I mean, it's all OVER the field, our failings. Even the good ones aren't getting it done. I watch Muschamp glaring and yelling and so on now and I think, and no doubt (as things stand) tells the on-field interviewer at the half, "We're missing on blah, and confused on blah blah, so we'll make some adjustme4nts here...We'll be OK."
Yeah. I'm thrilled.

So far I do not like what I see, so save me a seat on the anti-Muschamp bandwagon--not that any coach can fix this overnight. Maybe it will get all the nega-gators to shut the hell up if we just change coaches.

The Gators will stay in this game as long as the Vols keep sucking as badly as we do.

Look: We're "only down a field goal":--but it's against the Tennesse Volunteers, a team that is yopunger, less experienced and less TALENTED than us, at least at most positions. Yeah, it's at their place--and that's all the more reason that we are BEHIND at all at this point, instead of up a coupla TDs as we "woulda shoulda coulda" BEEN, had this been ANY kind of well-run team. We have to actually SCORE to surmount just that field goal--and it won't be the only Volunteer score here, after all, let's face it. Who has ANY sense that we're gonna ":catch fire" and beat 'em here?
My point, exactly.
"Badly overthrown..." That, is Jeff Driskell: Hits him on the run, like any 1st-string college QB is expected top be able to do, and it's a big play. No. JD is actually a "negative" at QB.

"Big play." "PLay of half". Incomplete. And Driskel's fault: Another poor throw on the "critical down".. 4th and 10. And they take the "Delay of Game" for our MVP--the punter. That says it all.

So...insert the one person that will fix all this. My assertion is that it takes the right mix of a coaching staff to fix this. I think what we are really missing is a defensive coach like Dan Quinn who has experience in the NFL and at college. DJ Durkin is in over his head as DC and should go back to special teams or should be a co-DC. This assumes that Muschamp is the right HC, Roper is the right OC, Summers is the right OLC, Lawing is the right DLC, etc.

If you think Muschamp is not the right HC, then you are pretty much saying we need to get rid of the entire coaching staff. Only Dan Mullen could come to UF with a full coaching staff and fix this, but he is making a pretty good case for staying at Mississippi State for a while.

I mean, down 3, "deep" in their end, and we don't, apparently CAN'T even attempt to TIE it?
Oh, MAN, we suck big ones.
It is time to really face it, folks:
We have seen this in every SEC-game so far, this bumbling, confused scramble, first on offense, then soon (as they spend WAY too much time on the field) the defense too. This is a poorly-coached team, whose ONLY hope against a HALF-decently-coached team, is that they are making as many mistakes as we are.
...Only THEY have players making plays when it counts--which is, and always WILL be, The Difference.
Remember when WE did that? Let's see, it was back when...Oh well--not like HE didn't fade badly too, then leave us twisting-on-the-wind, the "cupboard bare", and all that...So Muschamp GOT his couple/few years to put us back on track--even a bit of a (qualified) "mulligan" with all the injuries last year. But again: "This is who we ARE, now."
More's the pity. I don't care if we win this one somehow at the end. We WON'T be winning enough, not against the really good teams. No way.

So much to address, just to answer the points you raise here, E-, and can't/won't do it in-game (maybe a bit at the half?). Right asbout Durkin--but it IS, in the end, Muschamp's defense, we all know that.
Another drop, btw--you're right--and finally Robinson comes up with a big catch. Had he been doing that all game maybe a lot of our weakness would have been hidden another week...but that's the "best" I can say.
Driskel floats one long--AGAIN. 3rd down.
