Gators get Debose involved

"Florida fans kept wondering when speedy five-star recruit Andre Debose would become a factor in the offense.

The wait ended Saturday night. Debose made his first four career catches in the first quarter of UF's 48-14 win over Kentucky at Florida Field.

"It feels really good," Debose said. "I've been practicing really hard this week. That made feel really ready for tonight."

"Freshman WR Andre Debose finally got an opportunity to be a part of the offense on Saturday, but it’s clear he has a long way to go. The Gators scripted several early plays for Debose, who had four receptions for 36 yards, based on what they thought Kentucky’s defense might do.

“It felt real good,’’ Debose said. “I’ve been practicing all week real hard for that and I’m real happy. I was trying to pick up a couple of plays, and it finally worked out for me.’’

Meyer said up until last week Debose had been “like a deer in the headlights” in practice, which is why he hasn’t played. He missed all of last season with a hamstring injury."
