Graham trying to regain confidence

It’s been a tough start to the season for sophomore guard Dillon Graham

After playing just eight minutes and going 0 of 2 from the floor against North Florida, Graham did not play Tuesday night (coach’s decision) when the Gators played at Wisconsin.

Florida coach Billy Donovan confirmed that the 6-foot-4 Graham has been dealing with hip and ankle injuries.

“He’s not 100 percent and I think it’s showing in practice some for him, where there are some things physically he wants to be able to do that he’s having a hard time doing,” Graham said. “I think his confidence no question has been impacted by some of the things that he’s been dealing with with his hip injury. That’s been a challenge for him right now.”

Graham played sparingly as a freshman, averaging 0.5 points and 0.2 rebounds with 5 assists in 23 games. With Scottie Wilbekin suspended and Kenny Boynton and Mike Rosario gone, a chance opened up for Graham to earn more playing time as a sophomore. But Donovan said nagging injuries have held Graham back from playing at peak performance.

“He has struggled in practice because he’s trying to work through some of this stuff and it’s been a challenging for him,” Donovan said. “So I’m hopeful we can get him back at some point healthy.”
