It's a strange lull.
I mean, Spring practice is in session for football, there appears to be much to feel optimistic, even excited about--but there seems to be a kind of hesitation, a reticence to really commit, at least so far.
Maybe it is all the conflicting "static" out there, talk of who ISN'T fully healthy "yet", continued recruiting controversy and a general suspicion and uncertainty, even discomfort regarding this new age of CFB (call it what you want) "pay for play".
Then of course there is March Madness, "The Big Dance" and of course the inescapeable rise of our Roundball program here in 2025: We SHOULD be a #1 Seed--an exciting, oncoming force that NO ONE wants to face...Yes, we are still a football school first, but for the first time since BOTH programs were last national powers are we at center stage as the Conference Championships sort out the final seedings.
Golden's boys have much of the campus spotlight, to be sure.
But more than anything else, I sense a certain "nervous uncertainty", mixed with time-worn impatience, has us distracted:
Tired of all the talk, already SICK of all the "point/counterpoint".
We KNOW there is still a long, LONG way to go, and just want to let our team "GET THERE":
THEN we'll see.
