Thus far this spring, Alabama and Florida have unveiled statues honoring their latest title-winning head coach and three Heisman Trophy winners, respectively, during or before their annual spring games. I like the counter-arguments in the article. Was it too soon for UF because Tebow is only 23, or too late because Wuerffel is 36 and Spurrier is 66? Auburn probably jumped the gun with Newton--it would make more sense for them to make a bronze Toomer's Corner. Also it is good timing. The "Eras of Good Times" (EOGT), from 1965-1966, 1984-1985, 1990-2000, and 2005-2008 made the periods in between bad times to install statues representing those good times. Statues don't come for free, so you might as well get them paid for by rich donators while they are in good moods. Good mood usually follows EOGT.

The funny part about Auburn and Newton is what are they going to do when he has to give his Heisman back? :)

It's already covered. The Cam statue will have $180K in his left hand. All they have to do is take off the plate that reads "Heisman Winner" and replace it with "Thou shalt not steal" or something like that.
