Will Muschamp addressed the media Monday regarding senior quarterback John Brantley's injury and his status for Saturday's game at LSU.
Brantley is week-to-week and will not play Saturday against LSU, beyond that date, his status has not been determined.
"John has a lower leg injury and we’ll update you each Monday," said Muschamp. "Jeff Driskel, Jacoby Brissett and Tyler Murphy will all receive reps. We’ve been pleased with Jeff and his progress and where is at right now at the quarterback position, but all of those guys will rep. Whoever practices the best will be the guys that will play and give us the best opportunity to have success. Right now, [Jeff Driskel] would be our starter."
Brantley injured his leg in the second quarter of Saturday's loss to Alabama. Reportedly it is a high-ankle sprain.
Muschamp again reiterated that the Gators must play well around Driskel for the team to have a shot at beating top-ranked LSU or any other SEC team for that matter.
“Jeff’s a very mature young man," said Muschamp. "He went through spring with us. He’s an outstanding athlete and outstanding quarterback. He’s got legs, he can run. He’s a guy that can give you some variety as far as escaping the pocket and evading the rush – that’s a positive. It’s a
collective team effort. We have to play well around Jeff. We’ve got to play well around him and what he does.”
