John Brantley takes blame for bad snap at Tennessee

GAINESVILLE – "The snapping issues that plagued Florida in the season opener aren't totally resolved, but quarterback John Brantley said he and center Mike Pouncey are working on it.

In the past two games, the center-quarterback exchange hasn't bred the problems it did against Miami (Ohio), but it hasn't been perfect either. Against Miami, there were 13 bad snaps with five missing Brantley altogether and racking up a loss of 55 yards.

In the No. 9 Gators' SEC opener at Tennessee on Saturday, the duo botched just one that Brantley took responsibility for on Monday."

I'm not buying it. Sometimes you are going to have to hurry up. That's not an excuse for a bad snap. I truly hope Pouncey gets this settled. Our O-line is at its theoretical best with him at center but only if he gets the snap down pat. Hopefully he continues to improve so that he can keep the position. I'm hoping for 100% on the exchange this weekend. If that happens we might actually have a shot at giving Alabama a surprise.*

* If Addazio opens up the playbook and Loeffler calls the plays.

Agreed here - if we can get this cleaned up we can start to make things happen on offense and Brantley will start to feel more at ease in the pocket.

If Addazio opens up the playbook

You know what? I'm going to start pointing the finger at Addazio for my persistent migraines.

Loeffler calls the plays

All I want Loeffler to do right now is get Brantley to kick his game up a notch and work on improving his field-judgment skills. That's another step to improve the performance of our offense.

Chuck Heater was out sick with mono. Addazio stepped in to coach the safeties. Coincidentally, Will Hill had two majorly blown coverage incidents. I think we know who to blame.

My comment was tongue-in-cheek.

I know, I just like the idea of letting Addazio be the whipping boy for awhile. After every mistake against Kentucky I'm just going to yell, "Addazioooooo!!!" Especially when it's something that clearly isn't under his control. Missed field goal? Addazioooooooo!!!!

I know, I know...it DOES get to be beyond ridiculous. It can't be ALL Addazio.
Frankly, I really am beyond "the blame game"--I still think there may be some spread-too-thin and/or chain-of-command issues here that need addressing behind the scenes, but I'm ready (and advise others) to set that aside and concentrate on what can and should be done--By whomever is in a position to DO it.

For anybody who thinks Urban isn't aware of the problems or maybe doesn't give a crap, think again: http://jacksonville.com/sports/college/florida-gators/2010-09-20/story/gators-offense-seeks-fix-awful-offensive-performance?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+JacksonvillecomUfFootball+%28Jacksonville.com%3A+UF+Sports%29&utm_content=Twitter&source=rss_teams_Florida_Gators

The best thing Brantley and Pouncey can do right now is keep working on that exchange and ironing out the rough spots. Once this gets cleaned up and they're both on the same page, everything else will fall into place. Get the O-line to become more cohesive and trusting of each other as well as not miss their assignments, and you've solved a HUGE problem.
