Leading rusher in 2009: Early poll

We'll do these throughout the offseason and see if the rankings change.

Who will lead the Florida in rushing in 2009? I'm purposely not including Tim Tebow in this discussion because I want to talk about our running backs.

I like Rainey to take the lead and be our top rusher. I think he can get somewhere close to 900 yards and 8 touchdowns.

I'm inclined to say Jeff Demps based on his 2008 performance.

I do hope both Rainey and Demps will be 100% by the time two-a-days roll around; both of them had surgery right after the NC game.

I am going to take Demps because he seems like he can get through the tackles a little bit better the Rainey. I say Demps gets somewhere between 800-900 yards and 12 tds. with Rainey close behind him.

demps cuz thats what urban meyer talked about as the 1st rusher and demps goal is to be the first 1000 yard runningback under urban meyer id say he gets close 1100 and like 8-10 tds

I hope to see Moody comeout swinging next year... I think that if he has a good spring and summer he could rush for close to 1000... He is a powerful guy and pretty fast too

Agreed on all points, but according to what Hollywood Bob Redman told a group of us Gator fans last Thursday night Moody is still unsure of his assignments out there on the field - such as where to line up for the snap and exactly what the play is being called. He needs t owork on reaching a comfort level with the UF offense, but once he does he should really start making a difference.

Yeah it is a complex offense... I'm sure he will be fine, he has all spring and summer to work on that.. hopefully he has been studying his playbook this offseason.

idk our small guys demps and rainey were kinda getting shut down there in the last few games

but i could see either rainey, demps, or moody being the lead rusher, its up for grabs

Lane Kiffen will rack up the most "running yards" as he runs 543 miles from Gainesville to Knoxville with his tail between his legs. That equates to 955,680 yards. That'll be some kind of record. ;)
