More props to Urban Meyer

"While talking about how eager he was to embrace the Tennessee traditions, Kiffin said one of the things he most looked forward to was "singing 'Rocky Top' all night long" after beating Florida next season.

A little bulletin board material, though, quickly became much more when a perturbed Meyer let it be known several weeks later that Kiffin had better cool it on any inquiries to Florida receivers coach Billy Gonzales with the Gators preparing for the FedEx BCS National Championship Game."

Lane Kiffin is turning out to be a punk - and he'll get punked when he comes to The Swamp this coming September for talking so much trash. Good move on Coach Meyer's part in telling Kiffin to keep his mitts off Billy Gonzales: http://myespn.go.com/blogs/sec/0-4-138/Kiffin-not-treading-lightly-at-Tennessee.html

Sounds like he's Nick Saban Jr.

That's two SEC coaches Kiffin's rubbed the wrong way already; he keeps on doing what he's doing and he won't be well respected aruond the conference.

He may think he's a maverick, but when the losses come and the fans start ranting, the walls of Rocky Top will start crashing down.

There are mavericks, and there are mavericks with winning records. Spurrier, Saban, UM--those are mavericks who are also winners. Kiffin isn't much older than UM's teenage kids, for crying out loud! What makes him think anyone will fear him or even listen to him? We'll see where the trash talking goes when Kiffin runs home to Tennessee with his tail between his legs after being thrashed by everyone else in the SEC.

We also have to remember, the only time Lane Kiffin has ever won anything he was the assistant OC at USC and didn't even have much to do with the playcalling according to the coaches there. Then we all know what happened at Oakland and they improved vastly after Kiffin was fired. The guy is a joke in my opinion... he is where he is because of his daddy

I've already seen some rumblings that he's committing minor recruiting violations already; if that's true there's another area where he started off on the wrong foot. In college football you can run but can't hide from the NCAA - break the rules and you WILL get caught.

Nothing would make me happier than to see UT go on probation... it would serve them right for getting rid of Elmer Fud the year after an SEC East title and after all the success he has had over the years... He has earned a couple of down years in my opinion... just like Meyer here, it would take a lot for us to want to see Meyer go... One bad season wouldn't do it, at least I hope

Kiffin has really started off on the wrong foot. He definitely shouldn't be antagonizing SEC coaches who are far superior to him.

Plus, I still don't think he realizes that he plays AT Florida and AT Alabama. Saban and Meyer will be waiting for him. And then Spurrier will be wanting to get a shot at Kiffin for his comments.

True; Kiffin has a LONG way to go before he can walk in the tall weeds with big dogs like Meyer, Saban and SOS.
