Florida had two coaches leave during the recruiting process. Urban Meyer is hoping that's the end of it. But co-defensive coordinator Greg Mattison has been offered a position as defensive line coach with the Baltimore Ravens of the NFL, Meyer confirmed to The Sun on Wednesday.
“They're coming after him again,” Meyer said.
Mattison was offered a job with the Ravens earlier in the recruiting period and turned them down. Baltimore has upped the offer.
The word of Mattison's situation made the signing of defensive tackle Omar Hunter dicey Wednesday.
“I was worried,” Meyer said. “But we were honest with him. We told him that this isn't the first time someone has come after Greg Mattison.”
Meyer also denied a recent published report that former Colorado State head coach Sonny Lubick has been offered an office job on the Florida staff.
Meyer said his next priority will be to fill the two openings on his coaching staff and that he should have that accomplished within a week.
