And I am damn sick of this Nole-favoring announcing team from ABC...They are naturally ACC backers I guess.
Now we really DO have to burn some schlock to put this away.

This has gotta be the longest 14 seconds down to the 2 minute mark I have ever experienced.
I mean it--even with Norvell caring all his times out, a lot has happened between us getting in the red zone with 2:16 left.
AND, tgd Gatirs come up with ANOTHER FUMBLE. These announcers can be as bummed as they want: In truth it is HILARIOUS.

Not a very good game Statistically. Even for US--especially for the offense. I have to think even Billy can transcend his self-rationalizing excuses and begin to see the need for help there.
One other thing...I noticed something strange in the Doak crowd: By the 4th quarter and our finally starting to open up a solid lead, their fans did NOT appear dramatically disturbed by the growing certainty of another loss, nor even the accumulation of more and more fatal errors--itself the result of their team's sloppy play. The crowd shots showed neither empty seats nor unhappy fans; on the contrary, they seemed largely unaffected, happily cheering DESPITE the developing inevitability of another loss, in truth many still laughing happily and doing that insipid "warchant" as the score grew increasingly more lopsided.
In a way, I actually gave them credit for their determined, unwavering support--if that is indeed what I was seeing...HOWEVER::
At the same time I could only compare and contrast it to the empty seats and growing crescendo of derisive BOOs greeting OUR kids had such a loss been witnessed by a SWAMP night-crowd as ITS team completed what was about to be a 2-and-10 season, capped off by a home loss to its hated cross-state rival!
I sensed no irony there either--only a certain blithe and oblivious numbness. I found myself thinking, "Is this what 'beyond HOPE' looks like?!!"
I don't know. I guess WE can only take the approach that Billy took BEFORE the game in responding to questions about the general deterioration of that program over the course of the season leading UP to this finale:
"Hey--I have my OWN fields to hoe, my own chores and problems to address."
In other words, "NOT my problem."
