Good news! The Florida Gators will once again not lose this weekend! This would be a good time to look back at preseason predictions and see how far the Gators have progressed or regressed in the first quarter of the season compared to the competition.
The Gators might be improving due to increased playing time from explosive youngsters on offense and defense, or Kentucky is a crap team that Florida should beat and the Gators looked it for the first time in four years. With the exception of FSU, the remainder of the schedule will feature teams ranked in the top 15:
vs #5 UGA
at #2 UTx
vs #13 LSU
vs #12 Ole Miss
at FSU
Billy Napier is still on the hot seat despite a nice win against Kentucky. Remember that this time last year before the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party the Gators were 5-2 with a ranked win over #11 Tennessee. Remember that Florida went 0-5 for the remainder of the season including inexplicable losses to Arkansas and Missouri. Napier is currently 55-29 (65.5%) overall, 15-17 (46.9%) at Florida. He is 11-2 (84.6%0 against sub-0.500 teams, but only 8-12 (40.0%) against above-0.500 teams. He is only 1-9 (10.0%) against rivals Tennessee, FSU. Miami, LSU). I refuse to remove Napier from the hot seat until he beats some teams that he is not supposed to beat.
