Other Gator QBs who got screwed news

Chris Leak after throwing for 5 touchdown for the Jacksonville Sharks in their season opener win. Their Management replaced him with Omar Jacobs (whose a Florida native who was recruited by Urban Liar (Meyer) and later played QB for Bowling Green) AFTER ONE GAME. Sound like Leak has left the team.

Jacksonville seems bitten by some "Bad Management"-bug...something about that water in the St. Johns?

Wow, that is a rough story. I feel bad for Leak. Hopefully, he stays around to see how this other QB is going to do. Who knows, he might suck or get injured again and Leak will be back in the lineup.

Well I went to the game which the Tampa Bay Storm won barely but still. Jacobs was benched himself.

You live close to the arena where they play? Off topic, but how do you like watching arena football? I live "sorta" close to the LA team, but never went. Was thinking about it to get a small football fix before college football/NFL begin their seasons.

You live close to LA? I am moving there this month!

Yes, I live in the Bay Area (FL) and I have season tickets. It's a good game, more scoring, exciting. Don't know if I would consider it more exciting than regular football. Do they have a team in LA anymore? I know they had a few but keep leaving a few seasons later. What about CA in general?

Interesting reading the by-play ("tri-play?") here on this thread at the moment--sort of like watching a 3-way tennis match (played on a triangular court, with 3 nets?)...so I guess I'll try responding accordingly.
I have never really been able to get that "into" Arena Football, at least not on TV--but it has occurred to me that the idea of regional teams concentrating on bringing in guys who played in that region's college football programs, and of course with that ready-made familiarity and loyalty actually going to the games, seeing it LIVE, would probably make a big difference.
Personally, I'd have to live in Fla. then to get into it on that level. Period.
As for proximity, what strikes me (and this has occurred to me before, regarding our site, your moving E-, and so on) is how, in the end, as Gators, it really doesn't matter where we actually are, physically. Obvious, yes, but worth noting for a moment as an embodiment of that thing we call "Gator Nation"...still, it also gives potential resources, when it comes time for such a big move, as far as information, feedback, getting Qs answered, etc.
Myself, having lived in CA for many years , working in Hollywood/Los Angeles, it hits me sometimes that I live "strung out" between the two places I miss--Florida, of course, which I have never stopped missing (I consider it "home"), but also California sometimes as well (However, if I were ever to move back there and had a choice, I'd try to live down in San Diego Cty., myself...commuted so much for so long when I lived out there ANYWAY, now see "Why not drive a little more and have the sun, fun and beaches, too?").

(BTW--If you end up considering living that far south, the San Diego Gator Alumni Group is the best I've encountered outside of Florida--they are really welcoming, highly organized, put on all kinds of events, get-togethers, and the like and pride themselves on plugging Gator-newcomers to the area into their "Gator-Network" to get any kind of help they need)

Do they have a website? Might need to get them interested in this site. ;)

OK, here it is:
Title of Site: "Gators in Paradise/The San Diego Gator Club"
Actual site-address: "www.sandiegogators.com" (or can reference a breakdown of their activities, according to my notes, with this: "Gators-Alumni-Group-San-Diego-CA.html" but this last is "old info.", so I don't know if it still applies)
(To EVERYONE: Watch the video up top of linked-site--=A great "Swamp Montage", it WILL get you pumped, even with LAST year's highlights)

While we're talking Southern California, both in terms of "hooking up" AND for E-'s benefit as far as resources, there is also an active Gator Group further north: The "Southern California Gator Club" covers Orange, LA, Ventura, Riverside, and San Bernadino Counties. As much due to their size, both in area and in membership I suppose, aside from keeping track of where all the watch-parties are each week, they're more into "networking", hooking up Gators in the entertainment industry, and so on, than San Diego's group, which is more a kind of "community", bringing Gators together for all kinds of off-season activities and mutual help and support, than most. Still, the Southern CA group can really help in certain social and professional areas; it's been some years since I was in touch with them at all, so they likely have grown and become more active in more areas.

DRU2012 That is a pretty interesting group down in San Diego. They appear to be pretty active and do a lot of things during the season. I am going to be checking them out for sure this football season.

robdog ...Definitely--one thing they had going that I thought was pretty cool, for eg. (and I assume it's still happening) is a stretch of the #405, the San Diego Freeway, parallel with the Mission Beach as I recall, where they'd get club members together once a month and, before hitting the beach for a Bar B Q, clean the litter from that particular mile or so--hence it has one of those white-on-green signs at each end, north- and south-bound, proclaiming that drivers are driving on "Gator Highway--kept litter-free by the San Diego Gator Club"...look for it next time you're driving down that way (I can't imagine them letting it lapse--it was too "in your face"-funny/cool, AND an excuse to "meet and greet and have some fun" right in keeping with their active, outgoing and involved approach).

DRU2012 hhmmm... I will have to look for that the next time. I drive down that freeway at least 10 times a year to go to Charger games (5 freeway) and I will keep a lookout the next time. Really cool idea of them cleaning up a mile of the freeway/beach area.
