Percy is gone

It's just came across SportsCenter as breaking news! They said a press release would probably be sent out soon. I wish Percy luck and I hope the team that gets him, uses him well!

I'm hoping Andre Debose comes to Gainesville; that should lessen the impact of Percy leaving.

(Now I can let the cat out of the bag: When I was at the Central Florida Gator Club party with Hollywood Bob last December, he alluded to the same thing - he had an inkling that Tebow and Spikes would come back, but that Percy would go pro. As things turned out, he was right.)

kinda sad harvin is gone but if you notice, the bama game when he was out the ball got spread around 10 times more and we are more effective in the passing game, and we also have rainey and demps who can step up as they are a year older more mature and now debose more receivers coming hopefully this upcoming season it's Tim Tebow developing his passing game.

That sucks also no more Murphy (senior) so that's two receivers gone.

keep on the brightside, still got cooper and david nelson they finally can show what there made of, and then we got debose coming in who imo will replace murphy not really harvin at first maybe replace him after i see what he got. then we got nukeese richardson coming in and maybe reubeun randle. who knows I think next years receivers core will be like this years secondary to us there young and underrated and can show the whole world what there made of. . .we are going to have way too much talent than we can handle next year, harvin was just ready for nfl and we're still going undefeated next year or at least 13-1 again!

Percy, thank you for the memories, Good Luck on your future NFL career. Hope you end up with a team that can utilize all your playmaking abilities.

Exactly. Even though Percy's turning pro, we still have returners at WR such as David Nelson, Deonte Thompson, Riley Cooper and Carl Moore as a base, PLUS redshirts likely to be active and incoming recruits (I have high hopes for Andre Dubose) for 2009.

As much as I'll miss Percy, one thing I'm grateful for is that this time around the attrition wasn't as severe as it was after 2006; I attribute a LOT of that to Coach Meyer emphasizing dedication to the Gator football program when they sign their LOI's and players completimg their degrees over heading to the pros prematurely.

Lou Holtz once said jokingly that NFL stood for "not for long"; he was referring to coaches when he said that but it also applies to players as well. Only the "cream of the crop" enjoys success in the league, and many don't make it - thus Meyer stressing the importance of getting an education to these kids - and I do hope Percy will plan to eventually get his degree.

I hope my Niners pick him up. We BADLY need a playmaker on offense.

hey, a Niners fan in Fla. lol, they need a legit QB, I suggest they do what the Cards did and pull in an old veteran like Kurt Warner. They need experience at QB

On the subject of Percy Harvin, I feel that he went pro because of how fragile he is... he couldn't risk another year of college football. This will take away a game changer and go-to-guy, but i feel we will find a replacement(s) during the spring/summer... I look to Nelson and Cooper to step up at WR, and hopefully Rainey and Demps can stay healthy all year at RB (Rainey seems pretty fragile too)
