Run vs Throw

Do you like our new Gator offense... you know, where we run the ball a lot. Or do you like how our offense last year was more focused on the pass?

I do like the running offense. We don't normally associate a run-oriented offense with Florida, but the Gators do have their fair share of great college running backs--Emmit Smith, Eric Rhett, Fred Taylor, and Neal Anderson come to mind (among others).

We know Florida can throw when it wants to. The old adage of using the run to establish the pass, or using the run to control the clock will be favorable to Florida building up a team worthy of playing well against SEC or Big 12 teams in the regular season and in bowl games.

I just miss the deep ball.

Only if it leads to wins. Tebow does throw a pretty, deep ball. Then again, those running backs are controlling the clock well. I call that a good balance. It's good to be a dual threat.

i like running better for the most part. although, i think it is very demoralizing to teams having a deep pass for a TD or two.
i mean to struggle getting to the qb and miss him by a step or two only to see the pass go 50+ yards for a score.

about the only thing that would probably embarrass a team more is a special teams TD (Brandon James kick/punt return for TD)

Oh, I'm not complaining, as leakbrewergator said, as long as we score, that's cool.

I just miss Spurrier sometimes...*sigh*

Oh, and Tebow has a hideous deep ball. It's always so wobbly! I remember Leak throwing some of the prettiest spirals around.

The deep ball doesn't have to spiral--it just has to land in the receiver's hands. Bernie Kosar had the ugliest wounded duck throw, but he could throw long and with few interceptions. Tebow is friggin' strong and can throw the ball long without a tight spiral. That will work in NCAA, but in today's NFL he would have to be the modern equivalent of Bernie Kosar to get away with it.
