Spikes is having a blast

Brandon’s Spikes’ monster hit on Georgia running back Knowshon Moreno sent shockwaves through Jacksonville Municipal Stadium, but it wasn’t enough.

It wasn’t enough for a player who pays homage to the great Dick Butkus by having No. 51 as his jersey number.
It wasn’t enough for the leader of Florida’s defense. A defense that ranks ninth nationally, allowing 278.7 yards a game.
It wasn’t enough because Moreno got up and he was able to finish the game.
"It was a good hit," the junior linebacker said. "I shot my hips, but I want to knock a guy out of the game. It was a good hit on a good player. I got an opportunity to explode into him. I kind of wanted to get revenge from the year before."

Spikes has never been referred to as a dirty player, but when talking about his dream hit, he makes it clear that he wants his victim to undergo medical treatment afterward. If he had his druthers, Spikes said he would want to knock an opposing quarterback out cold.
"You can’t really explain it,” Spikes said of delivering the perfect hit. “It's something a linebacker dreams about. He wants to put a guy out. Like the ambulance (has to) come and get him off the field.
