Tebow, Gators, look to use Ben Hill Griffin hospitality to their advantage.

I wrote this article a little bit ago.. enjoy :)

The Florida Gators football team seems to have it all. They’ve got a Heisman winner at the quarterback position in Tim Tebow, an excellent head coach in Urban Meyer, a great offensive line and receiving core and an above average defense to top things off. But what really puts the icing on the cake? Home games at the University of Florida’s football stadium, Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

Considered to be the toughest place in college football to play a game by many, Ben Hill Griffin stadium could be an advantage to the Gators this season, as key foes Hawaii, Miami of Florida, LSU and South Carolina board their respective means of transportation on a one-way ticket to a date with hell on each Saturday they travel to Gainesville, Florida, to take on the Gators.

Speaking of the underworld here, the temperature and difficulties to playing at ‘The Swamp’ have friendly ties. It’s usually around 95 degrees, and that’s not factoring in humidity. If you’ve ever been to a game, you probably realize how hot it is. Luckily, our Gators are used to it, since they frequently practice in the heat, and that gives them an advantage as some foes aren’t used to playing in the sweltering temperatures.

If that isn’t enough, Ben Hill Griffin is a loud and unfriendly confines to play a college football game, that is, if you’re the opposition. Former coach Steve Spurrier, who came up with the Ben Hill Griffin’s famous alias of “The Swamp” always told fans, media members and players that “It’s the ‘The Swamp’ because only Gators get out alive”. This is a quote than I, and certainly all of you, hope holds true as Florida gears up for another rough 2008 campaign.
