A former Gator player told me this...

Cameron Newton, the freshman BU QB for University of Fla approached the coaches saying since he was 6’5”, 235lbs and very athletic, he would welcome the chance to be used like Tebow was last year and come off the bench for an occasional QB run while Tebow is nursing his shoulder...the coaches were luke warm...

They have this thing at practice called “circle of life”...where the whole team gets in sort of gang like circle and players are called out by the coaches to enter the middle and they have to basically take on the other guy and knock him out...obviously they tend to match OL versus DL, WR versus DB, etc

Well Newton asked the coaches to call him in and let him call out someone...they complied and called him in and he immediately called out Brandon Spikes the sophomore middle linebacker (who is second in the SEC in tackles)...Brandon was surprised, and as he hopped in to the circle, Newton charged him and just plain ran him over...turned to the coaches and said “now what about it !!””

Will be interesting...apparently the whole team got really juiced...so, lets see if he gets a chance just for the psychological effect

I dont agree with the way he got the coaches attention but I mean he needs to play some just to keep Tebow healthy

Cameron did the right thing,if they werent really trusting him he showed them hes the second coming of tebow.But its kinda hard for me to believe this storys true.and can anyone tell me if the vandy game will be aired.

I say if the kids got talent there is no reason to put him in every now and then. He needs that experience also. If something (god forbid) would happen to Tebow then the Gators deserve a fighting chance. For the good of the team I think they need to utilize Newton and get him going.

I think he should get a chance espec. in a game like last week where Tebow could not run very well. Let the kid bang it up in there. If he can knock spikes over let him knock some other linebackers over. Go Gators!!!!!!!

I hope he gets his chance. Tebow is hurt remember. We can't just keep running him and get him even more hurt. Cam is good. Let's see him get some playing time and see what this monster of a freshman can do against the big boys.
