Ex-Gator Hornsby arrested
JACKSON, Miss. — Jamar Hornsby, a Mississippi football signee with a history of legal trouble, has been arrested and his probation could be revoked.
Starkville police arrested Hornsby on March 1 and charged him with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor petit larceny after he and two fellow East Mississippi Community College teammates allegedly assaulted a man in a McDonald’s drive thru.
Hornsby, already on probation after taking a plea deal in a misdemeanor credit card fraud case that occurred while he was a member of the Florida football team, is accused of using brass knuckles.
Hornsby, a safety, was expected to compete immediately for a starting job with the Rebels, who had depth issues in the secondary last season. Now coach Houston Nutt says his status with the team is uncertain.
