FOX Sports seems to be a haven for morons and rumor-mongers; there's one contributor there who I'd love to give a kick in the a$$.
I have to laugh at the disparity of the ratings from one network to the other; ESPN has us at #5, Rivals at #10 and these clowns at #21. There's really no happy medium or consistency, and when it comes down to the nitty-gritty the # of stars a recruit has means nothing if he can't perform on the playing field.
And you and I both know why the St Johns River runs north (LOL!)
well i can care less bout how were ranked recruiting wise we filled the positions we needed we didnt fill all our scholarships wit useless players and on espn no offense i dont see how were ranked number 5 over some teams that got 22 players and have more stars but i cant complain plus nc title >>>> recruiting ranking
I put as much stock in recruiting ranking as I do with draft pick number--not much. Besides, you can win championships with players that were not part of a #1 recruiting class. The 2006 BCS champs weren't all part of a stellar recruiting class. Walk-ons, transfers, and previous depth are all part of the equation as well, right?
I know it's en vougue to say you don't care about recruiting rankings these days. But I must say, I do! How well a program can recruit DIRECTLY effects on-field performance. I'm sure if you look back at all the BCS national champions, they were ranked near the top in recruiting in the years preceeding that title.
So, I tend to feel good about our program when I see that we are a consensus recruiting powerhouse.
From what Hollywood Bob said last night, the reason why Scout ranked us a lot lower than Rivals and ESPN did was mainly due to the size of the class - BUT, Coach Meyer wanted to limit the size of the class as much as he could mainly to try and avoid unnecessary attrition (i.e., transfers to another school due to lack of playing time).
