That Gamblers' Bowl appearance looking more and more questionable in terms of our ability to compete. Who's our likely "sacrificial lam--"
I mean, "QB-1" now for this one?
Sorry--gotta somehow at least find some humor in this mess of an "immeduate future".
The "midterm future" may not be so daunting though, with the rise of the transfer portal...
Who do y'all see as our "best target", at quarterback in particular of course?
And our "longterm" may be BRIGHT, assuming we can hold what we already have and can close the deal on commits and "lean-heavilies".
However: With Deion touring Florida and Miami with a reported multi-MULTI--million dollar NIL warchest, that is hardly guaranteed.
I favored something like NIL, and was all for SOME modification/expansion of the CFB Playoffs, but the former is already being circumvented and the latter too appears somewhat of an over-reach.
Don't know about any of you, but this "Brave New World" of College Football in the 21st Century to me looks more and more like the worst of the bad old days--only now, out of the back rooms, gloves off and rules proudly flung to the wind.
"Hold your nose and wade on into the slime!"
Look, I understand that change was inevitable with all this money around, and "what's done is done", but I cannot help this sinking feeling that "the dam has broken", and now comes the flood.

Isn't he more of a pocket passer? He is one of the best QBs on the list. Just hope he fit in Napier's system.
Yes. Keep in mind that Leary is one of many QBs that Florida has contacted but not necessarily offered. DJ Uiagalelei (Clemson), Kedon Slovis (Pitt), and Michael Pratt (Tulane) are all different styles of QB rumored to have been contacted by Florida.

Gators are rumored to have Devin Leary atop their target list.
At least SIX schools have reportedly already contacted Leary (not including UF, whose interest thus far remains "rumored").
Whatever Billy has in mind, so far he's playing it close to his vest...

Actually, with admittedly perhaps less "potential upside" physically, "right here/right now" Mertz appears to have the BETTER overall stats--as a passer, anyway. THAT'S encouraging, at any rate.

(On another level, one which I wish to note but am loathe to do so in a separate, open thread:
One major ongoing reality that I suspect many Gators share is the way the various post-season Bowl match-ups--Playoffs and mainly irrelevant "show-bowls" included--continue to just "rub our faces in collective KAH-KAH": I HATE it, hate finding ourselves sitting on the sidelines watching everyone ELSE continue to at the very least be part of the ongoing discussion of CURRENT program relevancy.
I suppose playing ours so early and losing so badly didn't help, but one could see it coming and perhaps this time, despite the "extended practice and public exposure" arguments, this time we MUGHT have been better served forgoing such "participation" and rather simply carried on our recruiting etc. "under the radar"...
Of course, when all is said and done I trust Billy Napier and whatever I am sure are his well-considered aims--I'm just venting my ongoing undeniable pain.)
