Florida football fans wanting an inside look at the Gators' program will be appeased with the upcoming book, Urban's Way, which is due out in early September. It's full of anecdotes about coach Urban Meyer's philosophy, Ohio upbringing and his professional evolvement that has never been well-chronicled because he was reluctant to assist in such a project.
The 400-page book by UF graduate and longtime sports writer Buddy Martin contains compelling tidbits, but it also comes across as too syrupy. Martin, who was provided unprecedented access during the 2007 season, interviewed more than 40 players at Florida, Utah and Bowling Green, and he paints a portrait of Meyer that often reads more like a recruiting pitch.
