worst team I've ever seen

a feasible solution: Perhaps we need to start using the two-qb system as we did back in '06. Chris leak wasn't a prototypical "spread" qb, but when tim tebow came on board we had an added weapon. Maybe it's time to incorporate burton into the offense a little more; sure that attempted jump pass was botched but at least he gave it a shot - had reed been in the right place we would have scored six.

could not agree more

I completely agree. Brantley should never run the option. He can't run and he can't pitch. Let Brantley handle the pro sets. Let Burton handle the spread option. To throw a wrinkle have them do the other job occasionally to keep the defenses honest. Let Brantley scramble on a designed play. Let Burton throw deep on a designed play.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. This was not the worst we have ever seen. Alabama was that good. They are the defending champs for a reason. They managed less than 200 yards rushing and less than 100 passing and still won. They used our game plan to beat us by being physical, playing good special teams, and winning the turnover battles.

We've discussed the OC before. We may need an NFL-caliber OC, and maybe it's Loeffler or a newcomer from the NFL. Addazzio could remain as o-line coach or something. Brantley does not fit the spread option, but he fits the Leak/Tebow variant--use it!

Now the question is whether we can improve and beat these guys in December. Before today I would definitively said yes. After today, I need a few more beers to help think my way through that answer.

Blocking is terrible. The alabama players beat blocks left and right all game.

Something needs to be done about Pouncey and the whole snapping issue.

Brantley lacks major confidence as a SENIOR. Terrible decision making. I'd prefer him taken out and just rebuild the entire team with Trey Burton or someone else..seriously.

The gators can't put the ball in the redzone with First and Goal 1 yd away from the end zone. Pathetic

The running backs... wow. Something seriously needs done there asap.

The play calling is terrible especially dive plays

I AGREE however Brantley's a junior

A gutsy call that totally backfired. Their coaching staff saw it coming a mile away. That failed attempt affected us in a way that colored the rest of the quarter and gave them the initiative.

I still think we can win in Atlanta with some adjustments.

Yes the dives have to go. There was only one guy who could make those work.

Funny thing about the jump pass, Burton could have leaped over the line for as high as he got in the air. Too bad he didn't. But as the game wore on, I ask, "Would it have made a difference?" Bama's defense was much more disciplined than they were against Arkansas, even though I really only saw two guys making stops. In any case, Bama's missing component from the week before was definitely there Saturday night. Maybe Saban saw what I saw and adjusted.

Ok, Brantley is undoubtedly not a running QB but at least he doesn't slide 2 yards short of the first down marker like Chris Leak did. That being said, I am not one to start ripping coaches after a bad loss. However, there have been many times this season(and a few last season) when I could not for the life of me figure out what our coaches were trying to accomplish. We were having no success running up the middle, and each of the handful of times we ran the edge were positive gains. I have the same feelings about our passing schemes. As far as our defense is concerned, we have one of the best secondaries in the country(even with a couple bonehead plays by Will Hill). It's easy to forget what that guy can do. I think the coaches are waiting for someone to step up as a leader and play maker on offense, but until that happens they need to figure out a way to bring things together. We have 7 more weeks to bring the potential out of this team and I believe that it is within Urban Meyer's capabilities to do that.
