Young strong in Latvia

Patric Young put together an impressive showing for Team USA at the FIBA Under-19 World Championships in Latvia.
The Florida rising sophomore big man finished second on the team in rebounding (6.8 rpg) and fourth in scoring (9.7).
Yet judging from his tweets, Young didn’t come away satisfied from his trip overseas.
Young was particularly distraught after Team USA suffered a quarterfinal upset loss to Russia. Team USA won its final two games to finish fifth, but came short of its goal of getting a medal.
After the Russia loss, while other U.S. players were reportedly getting phone numbers from girls in the stands, Young tweeted: “Complacency is the worse type of team killer. Once that sets its roots there is almost no coming back.”
The 6-foot-9, 255-pound Young will now try to bring that intensity and passion stateside with the Gators. He’ll have an expanded role with the departure of UF’s all-senior frontcourt of Vernon Macklin, Alex Tyus and Chandler Parsons. Foul trouble and field goal percentage were issues for Young in his freshman campaign, but he proved last season he was SEC ready on the defensive end of the floor.
Young will need to score more for the Gators next season. Judging from the powerful dunks over international players overseas, Young appears ready to make a leap offensively. More minutes should result in more offensive production.
