The University Athletic Association is welcoming back the 1984 Gators, the program's first on-field Southeastern Conference championship team, for the Oct. 19 homecoming game against Kentucky. - via Scott Carter, Senior writer for the Florida Gators.

The 1984 Gators will finally get an opportunity to celebrate one of the three SEC championships that UF has not been allowed to claim, with the others being their "1st in the SEC" claims in 1985 and 1990. Unfortunately, not all members of the team are still alive today, but here is the majority of the roster:

I'm going to say it, 1984 NATIONAL CHAMPION Florida Gators. F--K THE NCAA

BYU didn't play anyone and Washington lost to the only quality opponent in USC and didn't even win their conference.

One step at a time. First we need to welcome the remaining members of the 1984 Gators home as SEC champions, then we need to lobby to honor them as national champions. Maybe when the next coach, athletic director, and university president get to together they can talk about this.
