#89 Ricky Nattiel
Richard Rennard Nattiel of Newberry, FL, arrived at Gainesville as a former quarterback. Had it not been for an injury to wide receiver Dwayne Dixon, Ricky the Rocket may have been converted to defensive back. Fortunately, Ricky had the honor of playing wide receiver for Charley Pell and Galen Hall from 1983 to 1986. He was a favorite target of Kerwin Bell during the Gator’s stellar 9-1-1 1984 and 1985 seasons. Ricky managed to make the SEC Academic Honor Roll in ’84 and ’86, finished his career with 117 receptions for 2,086 yards, and 18 TDs. He was first-team All-SEC and second-team All-American in 1986. Rickey graduated from UF in 1987, and was inducted into the University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame in 1998.
Trivia: Ricky Nattiel is one of only three Gator alums to score a touchdown in a Super Bowl. Name the others.
