A UT fans two cents

Hey guys so sorry about Meyer. Having gone through all the coaching turmoil we have went through these past couple years I can relate to the to the feeling of uncertainty you guys are going through right now.

Even though Meyer has made our life hell these past several years I will say that he is one of the best coaching minds to come along in a long time. The only coach you guys ever had I feared more was Spurrier. He made me dread Sep every year and the sweetest victory I ever tasted was that 98 game. Hell I enjoyed that more that beating Florida State for the NC lol. Crazy I know but that was because Spurrier always had our number no matter how much talent we had.

Anyway you guys will bounce back without much trouble. You guys dont have to rebuild the way we are having too. You guys are loaded with talent. Foley has the easiest AD job in America right now.

Something tells me that Chris Peterson will end up being the next coach at UF. He has done more with less than anyone in College Football. He has done all he can do at Boise State and it does scare me to think what he could do with the talent you guys have. I wanted him bad after "He who shall not be named" bolted in the middle of the night on us this year. Dooley has ended up being one hell of a get for us, but Chris was my first choice. He is going to with NC's wherever he goes after Boise State.

Anyway guys sorry for yall's loss. Meyer is one of a kind and can never be replaced. UT is starting to climb out of the hole and I want these UT UF games to go back being the game everyone talked about in Sep. You guys are in fine shape and barring another Zook hire you guys shouldnt have any letdown on the field anytime soon.

Gracious--as usual with Vol-fans. Except for that one year (with you-know-who) I never could work up any real "hate" for the Vols. Too decent and truly passionate about their team. Great competition in a "rival game" we always look forward to, though.
Your comments are kind, yes, but also insightful. I too am thinking Peterson, or maybe (long shot) Whittingham. There are a couple of others, but personally I discount the big splashy "names from the pros", and I just don't think the AD is going to bring back either Mullen or Strong, not this time--for a LOT of reasons.
You're right, though, Foley is in a strong position: he can get just about anyone he wants, and we can rest comfortable and sure that he's a bright guy who will be thinking long term, big picture--and he's unafraid to give the "young, passionate and driven outsider" a shot.
Speaking of which, y'all did REAL well, as it turns out. Dooley has changed the whole "vibe" around your program, and he's doing it all the "right way". His (and by extension, the team's) talking is evidently going to be done on the field from now on. That'll mean some good and tough games. Take care and good luck, Vol.

Thanks, dduncan. I'm with DRU. I rarely have encountered hateful Vols fans. The Vols look to be recovering from the Lame Kitten affair. I have own list, just as every Gator fan has a list. It's nice to see an outside point of view.

Yes he has. When I heard you guys hired him, I was like, "wow, desperate times call for desperate hires," but he seems to be doing a great job (playing well, saving the recruiting class, etc.) I admit, if UF hires a relative "nobody," I actually won't be that worried, given how well Dooley has done.

I knew Dooley was a good hire, he comes from good stock. Dad made our lives miserable during the 1970's & 1980's at UGA.

Did anyone watch any of the games where that freshman QB was in? That kid's good!

I watched the kentucky game and was impressed by him and Dooley. It'll be nice when both our programs are at the top again. I lived in TN for 10+ years and was always treated well by the Vol fans. Here's hoping that we both get back up soon.
